Starting the Stem Wall

Once the footer has set, the stem wall is started. The stem wall is several courses (rows) of concrete block. The first corner is critical as the rest of the house will follow this corner, all around the house and up to the roof. In this picture you can see one of the lines (the red string going left to right) used to line up the blocks exactly. The metal rods with red caps are the vertical rebar used to anchor the blocks.
