Drywall Completed

These pictures show the completed drywall. The drywall has a silver appearance (as compared to the usual off white color) because it is foil backed drywall. Foil backed drywall is used in those places where a vapor barrier is needed (normal drywall easily passes moisture). We reverse the drywall so the foil is on the inside of the room so that the foil acts to keep out both the smell of insulation in the walls and ceiling, but also to keep the drywall from outgassing into the house. Drywall is treated with dioxins as well as other bad things.

The pictures are, from left to right, top to bottom:

  • From the living room looking toward the entry room (left) and kitchen (right)
  • In the kitchen looking toward the sink (below the window) and window to living room (right)
  • From the living room looking down the hallway to the bedroom
  • The bathroom tub and through the window to the courtyard
  • The sauna (left) and shower (right)
  • Kathy's office, looking through the computer screen hole to the projector room
  • The bedroom
  • A window, showing how the sides are beveled outward to make the window seem more open
  • The laundry room
